About the presentation of the project

The film „Presentation of the project ‚World Museum of the Mountains‘“ contains part of the film which was shot by Branko Andrić in Naltschik.

The film documents die importance which not only the rector of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University with the name H.M. Berbekov (KBSU) and the scientific council of the KBSU, but also the government and the president of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic as well as more universities and research institutions in the region attach to the project.

The presentation of the project on the 15th July 2009 was the climax of a three-year successful cooperation, a conference of several days in the area of the Elbrus (hotel of the KBSU) and at the KBSU in Naltschik as well as a cultural expedition of the INST in the Northern Caucasus.

The participants of the delegation were: Sci.Dir.Dr. Herbert Arlt (Coordination), Mag.Cand. Branko Andrić (filming, paper), Dr.med.vet. Sigrit Hepperle (paper, photos), Prof. Dr. Gabriella Hima (paper, translations from and into Russian), Hans and Theresa Gallistl (paper, photos), Prof.Dr. Helmut Pfanner (paper). The most important partners on the side of the KBSU Prof.Dr. Raschid Alikajew (idea, organisation, paper, accompaniment, translations) as well as the Rektor Prof. Dr. Barasbi S. Karamursow (development of the project, exhibitions, encounters, financing, papers). (The dress of the participants of the delegation correspond to the character of the expedition.)

The following utilizations and evaluations are in preparation:

• a film about the Elbrus-region (Presentation on 28.11.2009 during the Festival of Mountain Films in Salzburg)
• a film about the University Naltschik as a centre of social development (to be broadcast on INST-World-TV)
• the publication „Weltmuseum der Berge. Ein Projekt des INST gemeinsam mit der KBSU“ (book and DVD; presentation in Salzburg as well)
• a research and education program within the framework of the contract between the INST and the KBSU of 15.7.2009 (the world museum is planned to be opened during the Olympics 2014, which will take place also in the Elbrus-region)
